I love the fact that this Halloween-Themed Wedding Cake (found on Pink Cake Box) still feels elegant.
This cake's flavors include red velvet cake with chocolate filling and chocolate cake with raspberry chambord and vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream. Yum!

I found this recipe when I was on the hunt for a fun cocktail for an Autumn-themed bridal shower.
Since the weather was getting a little cooler, we wanted something that was a festive representation of the season.
As life would have it, I found this cocktail on one of my favorite blogs, Hostess with the Mostess.
This martini has all of the makings of an apple martini. But the caramel and butterscotch keep it from tasting too tart. In fact, it is just right.

There is a scene in the first Sex and the City movie where Anthony (the wedding planner) lets Carrie know that Mr. Big has not shown up.
The wedding was already 25 minutes late, and Anthony is a little freaked out because he hasn't heard anything the groom's (Mr. Big) whereabouts.
Now, this scene always gets me because I wonder EVERY TIME -- "Why didn't Anthony call Mr. Big to find out where he was located?"
Why didn't Anthony (the planner) have an Emergency Contact List?
If you are using a professional planner for your wedding, I am sure that s/he will have an Emergency Contact List for the key members of your wedding day.
If you are not using a planner, consider creating your own. Once it is complete, give it to a trusted family member of a member of your wedding party. Tell them to save it in the notes section of their smart phone.

Today, I am showing some wedding day love for Martina and Cecil. Martina and Cecil got married on July 17th of this year. Their ceremony took place in the park near the Netherlands Carillon, and their reception took place at the Top of the Town in Arlington, Virginia.
This picture of Martina is so hot! She was a gorgeous bride (on the inside and out). I probably told her 100 times how great she looked in her wedding gown. And, her beautiful spirit really touched my entire team.
This photo was taken in front of the Palomar Hotel, located in Rosslyn (or Arlington), Virginia. Martina's make-up was the work of Teresa Atchison with Summark Faces.
All of the wedding day flowers were the talented work of Enchanted Florist. I have to give a shout out to Melissa -- She is fantastic!
The bride's mother was the matron of honor. You can spend five minutes with the Martina's mom, and you will know exactly where Martina got her good looks and her beautiful spirit.
One of my favorite things about weddings near the Netherlands Carillon -- the view of the Washington DC monuments.
The same goes for Top of the Town. Here is a view of the Washington DC skyline. I believe that their wedding photographer, Michelle Lindsay, took this picture from the Top of the Town's deck during the wedding reception.
Speaking of DC monuments, Martina and Cecil took some of their wedding day pictures near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.

The wedding cake was created by Kendall's Cakes. And, I must tell you that this cake was pretty AND yummy. I am sure that I had more than one slice on the following day.
The gold detailing on the wedding cake was lovely.
This picture is fantastic. I think this picture looks like an ad for champagne or an engagement ring.
Martina and Cecil, thank you so much for allowing us to take such good care of you on your wedding day. This day truly was our pleasure!

When we think of a rehearsal dinner, we typically think of enjoying a great meal, some great wine and great conversation.
Well, how about giving a meal to someone in need instead?
Here are some options for you and your wedding party to participate in after the conclusion of your wedding rehearsal --
1. Serve dinner at a local soup kitchen
2. Help a local food bank collect and organize food donations
3. If your wedding is right before Thanksgiving, you and your wedding party can help a local church deliver Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
4. Help a local charity deliver meals to the sick and shut-in.
5. Hold a bake sale to raise money for young children in need. This option would take some pre-planning to ensure that you have the location secured and the baked goods ready.
If you want to add to the evening, give all of your wedding party members matching t-shirts to wear. Commemorate the end of the evening with a group picture. And follow up with a heartfelt thank you to them for their participation.

A couple of years ago, my team managed a rehearsal dinner at a bowling alley.
It was one of our favorite rehearsal dinners.
The food -- nachos, Coca-Cola, hot dogs, pizza, beer, and burgers -- created a very light and casual mood. Bowling turned out to be a sport that just about everyone could play. And you can't help but laugh at your friends in the Bowling Shoes.
If a Bowling Alley Rehearsal Dinner just isn't your thing, check out some of our other favorite spots for a fun and interactive rehearsal dinner --
1. Arcades similar to ESPN Zone and Dave and Busters
2. Minor League Baseball Games (A lot of them have their own little amusement park)
3. Mini Golf
4. Bowling Alleys similar to Lucky Strike
5. Batting Cages (Nothing works off wedding planning stress like whacking a baseball!)
6. A Cinema and Draft House <-- I love this idea!
7. Laser Tag
So, if you are interested in booking one of these venues for your rehearsal dinner, plan ahead. Your rehearsal dinner might have to compete with happy hours, tournaments and birthday parties.
Reserve a gathering section/room for your wedding party. Your guests will want a place to relax in between games.
Stop by the venue on a Friday night before you book your rehearsal dinner. Sometimes, the patrons on Friday night can be very different from the Saturday afternoon patrons.
If you plan your rehearsal dinner at an arcade, consider purchasing the game tickets beforehand.
Provide transportation. Many of your guests will be pooped after an evening of bowling. Providing a shuttle bus will allow them to have fun without worry.

Doesn't a picnic with friends, while watching an old movie sound like a fun evening?!?
I think so!
In fact, I think this would be a great option for your rehearsal dinner. It's casual, it's entertaining and it's a fun way to bring people together.
Here's how you do it --
1. Invite your wedding party to dinner and movies in the park. Include the park details, the movie details, the picnic menu, the weather details, and let them know how to find you in the park.
2. Pack an awesome picnic dinner. Complete with drinks, dessert, and utensils.
3. Arrive early. Designate a central location. And, mark it with a flag to let your wedding party know where you are located.
4. Enjoy the movie!
If you decide to hold your rehearsal dinner in the park, remember to bring the following --
1. Bug Spray
2. Blankets
3. Lawn Chairs (if you prefer not to sit on the blanket)
4. Bottle Openers and Wine Stoppers
5. Trash Bags (for all of your dinner utensils, plates, and trash)
6. Golf Umbrellas (just in case)
7. Binoculars (for people watching)
8. A Great Picnic Dinner (easy bite-size items are probably the best)
9. Wine, Beer and Sodas
10. Popcorn, Cracker Jacks and/or Movie-Size Boxes of Candy (you can find the movie-size boxes of candy in stores like Five Below)
11. Wet Wipes, Napkins, and Shout (for the little food mishaps)
If you live in the Washington, DC area, check out this list of outdoor movie events scheduled during the summer months. I checked the internet and found similar movie options in just about all of the major US cities with large parks and beaches.

When interviewing your potential wedding vendor(s), it makes sense to ask them questions about the wedding planning process. However, it is just as important to ask your potential vendor(s) questions about their actions on your actual wedding day.
1. Will you be the vendor working at my wedding? If not, who will?
2. How many assistants will you have with you on-site?
3. Who is your back-up if something happens to you? What are his or her qualifications?
4. What time will you arrive? What time will you depart?
5. How much time do you need for set-up? How much time do you need for tear down?
6. What will you wear on my wedding day?
7. Do you require a vendor meal? Does it need to be hot? Are there any dietary restrictions that we should be aware of?
8. Will you be present at my rehearsal?
9. Do you intend to bring in potential clients to see your work on my wedding day?
10. If we decide to extend our reception an hour or two, will we have to pay you an overtime fee? If so, what is it?
11. What is your policy when it comes to bad weather or natural disasters?
12. Are there any additional charges not mentioned? (i.e. "day of" parking)
13. Will you be able to provide proof of insurance if required?
14. Are you fluent in another language? If yes, what language?
15. Will you have staff assigned to monitor the gift table? Will you have staff assigned to monitor the children's table?
